Zagreb - the capital of Croatia - is located on the Sava River, south of the Medvednica mountain range. Like every city, Zagreb also has its unique symbols. It has existed for almost 1000 years and it would be a mistake not to spend at least a few hours in it. Zagreb was created by the union of two settlements - Gradec and Kaptol, which today form the old core of the city. Ilica Street, which is one of the main symbols of this city, is the street with the largest number of house numbers in Zagreb. There are more than 500 of them. In the past, it was exceptional for the revolutionary way of constructing the ground floor, with large open frame and glazed windows, which created conditions for the development of business activities. In Ilica, there are buildings built by the most important Croatian architects of the time.
Zagreb Cathedral - Zagreb Cathedral is the largest and most monumental Croatian sacral building and one of the most valuable monuments of Croatian cultural heritage. It is built in neo-Gothic style, 77 meters long and 46 meters wide. It has eight bells. The largest bell is the Holy Trinity Bell from 1843, which weighs 6.5 tons. The cathedral can accommodate more than 5,000 worshipers.
If you stop in Zagreb, you should take the shortest cable car in the world - Uspinjača - to the old town. It is only 66 meters long and the ride takes just over a minute. In addition to the beautiful view of Zagreb, enjoy a visit to the Church of St. Mark . Also go to the beautiful and green Maksimir Park and walk past the Croatian National Theater - Hrvatsko narodno kazalište. And that is far from all that Zagreb has to offer. If we go back to the beginning, where we mentioned that it would be a mistake not to spend at least a few hours in this city, it is clear that it would be a mistake not to spend at least a few days here.
